For summer 2027 we are again looking for drone pilots for our agricultural drones. The job suits anyone who is flexible and motivated during the season: students, self-employed people, job seekers or retirees. It combines technology, nature and real impact. No previous experience needed; we take care of the training.

Season 2027

Mid-June to the end of July

You work in blocks of 5 consecutive days, weekends included. To make the training worthwhile, we need you for at least 3 blocks. A working day typically lasts 10 to 12 hours.

What you bring

Class B licence and German

A class B driving licence and good German. Plus a liking for technology and time for several 5-day blocks in the short season. During a deployment you are on your own, so you work independently and handle pressure well. No drone experience needed.

Employment & pay

Employed or self-employed

Pay: performance-based, up to €320 per day. Employed, usually as short-term employment (kurzfristige Beschäftigung), or self-employed on a service basis. As a self-employed pilot you work with your own business registration and the necessary insurance, and invoice per project.

    Your deployments

    From mid-June to the end of July you are on the road in blocks of 5 days, mainly in southern Germany, starting from our base in Böblingen.

Your mission

Applying beneficials from the air

You start at our base in Böblingen, take over vehicle and equipment and drive to your operating area. There, you go from field to field: you apply beneficial insects over the maize with the drone, staying in touch with the local farmers and the pilots around you.

Training included

Previous experience? Not needed.

We get you up to speed on the drone with a theoretical and a practical training module. We cover the costs of your drone licence and the online exams (A1/A3 and A2). If you like being outdoors and enjoy technology, you will fit right in.

Employment

Flexible, usually as short-term employment

The job is normally set up as short-term employment (kurzfristige Beschäftigung). If the requirements for that are not met, a fixed-term position subject to social insurance is possible given suitable qualifications and availability. Independently of that, you can also fly for us as a self-employed drone pilot on a service basis.

We depend on the weather. Our season normally runs from mid-June to the end of July. A deployment always runs as a block of 5 consecutive days, weekends included. Weekend-only deployments are not planned.

Your working day

5 days in a row, full days in the field

On deployment days you are out in your operating area all day, typically working 10 to 12 hours. We announce deployment dates about 3 days in advance, depending on the weather, so a good deal of flexibility is required. You simply enter your available days in our deployment calendar.

Accommodation

Organised and paid for

Your accommodation (hotel or guesthouse) is organised and booked by our operations team; we cover the costs. We try to accommodate pilots from the same area together, so there is still time in the evening to swap stories.

What applicants ask us.

Do I need previous experience or a drone licence?
No. You learn everything with us: in an online crash course of about 25 hours, scheduled as you like and with a practice drone, and in one to two days of field training. You take the drone licences A1/A3 and A2 with us beforehand, and we cover the costs of the licence and the online exam.
How will I be employed?
Usually as short-term employment (kurzfristige Beschäftigung). If the requirements for that are not met, a fixed-term position subject to social insurance is also possible, given the right qualifications and availability. You can also fly for us self-employed on a service basis, with your own business registration and the necessary insurance, and invoice per project.
When is the season?

What does a deployment look like?
A deployment lasts 5 consecutive days. You start at our base in Böblingen, take over the vehicle and the equipment and drive to your deployment area. Our operations team tells you which fields to fly. There you drive from field to field and release the beneficial insects with the drone, typically for 10 to 12 hours a day, in touch with the farmers on site and the other pilots nearby.
How demanding is the job?
More demanding than many people expect, and never dull. A deployment day typically lasts 10 to 12 hours, often in great heat, and flying takes your full concentration the whole time. During a deployment you are on your own and work independently. In return, no two days are alike: new fields all the time, plenty of technology and the whole day outdoors. If that appeals to you, you will fit in well with us.
When do I find out when and where I will be deployed?
Because we depend on the weather, deployment dates are usually fixed only about 3 days ahead. You enter the days you are available in our deployment calendar, and our operations team assigns you to an area from there. So you need to be flexible at short notice.
Can I work only at weekends?
No. A deployment always covers the whole block of 5 consecutive days. A block can start on any day of the week, so you also work at weekends. There are no weekend-only deployments.
What if I already have plans on a particular date?
No problem: just mark the day as “not available” in our deployment calendar. What matters is that you can take on at least 3 blocks of 5 days between mid-June and the end of July. Occasional fixed commitments, such as an exam or a doctor’s appointment, are easy to plan around. If you have fixed commitments every week, the blocks are often hard to fit in.
Where do I stay during a deployment?
In a hotel or guesthouse in the deployment region. Our operations team organises and books it, and we cover the costs. We try to house all pilots in the same area together, so you have time in the evening to swap notes.
Do the vehicle and the equipment stay with me for the whole season?
No. After each deployment block you bring the vehicle and the equipment back to the hand-over point, usually in Böblingen.
